It has been alleged by sections of media that Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra has been removed as the ambassador of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign run by the BJP government in Haryana. It's believed that this happened after Parineeti tweeted out against the Modi government's Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The spokesperson of Women and Child Development Department, Government of Haryana, has condemned the news. "The news of Parineeti Chopra being dropped as the brand ambassador of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' is false, baseless and malicious. The Memorandum Of Understanding was for one year, till April 2017. Thereafter, the MOU was never renewed," the government said.

Parineeti recently described the beating up of protestors as barbaric.
