Haryana's Manushi Chhillar brings home the 'Miss World' crown after 17 years!

Haryana’s multi-faceted 20-year old model Manushi Chhillar has been crowned as the new ‘Miss World’. Chillar thus brings home the coveted ‘beauty queen’ throne after 17 long years after Priyanka Chopra won the same in 2000.

Beauties from 108 countries vied for the throne (in Sanya, China) which was captured by the 20-year old Jat girl, who studied at New Delhi’s St. Thomas School and later at Sonepat’s Bhagat Pool Singh Govt. Medical College for Women. The beauty-with-the-brains is said to be nursing an ambition to become a cardiac surgeon with a noble intention of opening hospitals on non-profit basis in rural areas of the country.

Following are some of the fields of interests of Manushi, who has now caught the attention of Bollywood:

•    A very intelligent student, Manushi is pursuing medicine with the ambition to become a doctor to serve the poor on a non-profit motive;
•    Her parents, both scientists, have groomed their daughter with the intention of making her click in her field(s) of interest;
•    Manushi is a ‘Kuchipudi’ danseuse of repute; she has trained under the best dancers in India and has won many prizes for her performances in the past;
•    Active in sports as well, she is very much passionate about ‘bungee-jumping’ and is a trained ‘para-gliding’ athlete as well;
•    She is also well-versed in ‘snorkeling’, the art of of swimming through deep waters with an oxygen cylinder aiding the breathing process;
•    She is also very good in acting and has appeared frequent on stage in theatres during her days in Delhi;
•    A creative thinker, Manushi also pens poems and has a huge collection of ‘non-published’ verses. 
•    She is also very good in drawing and had taken part in many competitions;
•    An expert in carnatic vocal music, she also learnt Hindustani music a few years back.  She is also adept in playing a few music instruments;
•    She had travelled across more than 20 villages under ‘Project Shakthi’ and given free consultations to more than 5,000 women in the country about menstrual hygiene.
