ML Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana, is in the news for jokingly saying that Kashmiri girls can now be brought into the State for marriage after the abrogation of Article 370. He made the controversial remarks in the context of talking about the abysmal sex ratio in the State.
The Congress party has reacted to the remarks strongly. Rahul Gandhi said, "Haryana CM, Khattar's comment on Kashmiri women is despicable and shows what years of RSS training does to the mind of a weak, insecure and pathetic man. Women are not assets to be owned by men."
The BJP has defended Khattar by saying that his humorous remarks have been blown out of proportion. Amit Malviya of the BJP shot back, "Several Congressmen, when Rahul Gandhi was President, sexually abused their women colleagues with impunity. The victims pleaded to RG for justice but eventually chose oblivion over enduring ignominy. It is only a pervert weak mind that uses women as props to further his politics."
