It is common for celebrities to discourage bursting firecrackers on Diwali as they cause immense noise and air pollution. However, these days, celebs face trolling and backlashes for making such statements. Recently, actor Harshvardhan Kapoor took to Twitter to share his opinion on why firecrackers should be banned.

He wrote, "People still bursting firecrackers all over the place.. my pets are scared, it’s uncomfortable for everyone at home and really bad for the environment in more ways than one.. I’ve never been a prisoner to cultural presets for these reasons.. common sense has to prevail sometimes."

Soon after this several netizens dug up a pic of Anil Kapoor bursting crackers and Harshvardhan watching him and started targeting the actor. Harshvardhan clarified, "That was years ago.. but as we progress we learn more and try and better our ways .. at least some of us.” In another tweet, Harshvardhan wrote that he has changed his views about bursting crackers only recently.

Eventually Harshvardhan had to delete his tweet. He concluded by saying, "My tweet about the crackers isn’t meant to be political.. yeah very sad indeed can’t share an opinion without you guys going into a tizzy .. lol."
