Suryah who is caught in all kinds of controversy over his movie New released last year, should be feeling happy now for the Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed the operation of the Madras High Court order revoking the certification issued by the Censor Board for New.

A Bench comprising Justice Y K Sabharwal, Justice B N Srikrishna and Justice Justice P P Naolekar observed that the High Court at the most could have ordered the deletion of the objectionable scenes instead of acting as a 'moral policeman.'

Meanwhile on Wednesday, Suryah has filed two anticipatory bail applications in connection with two other cases in the Madras High Court.

A couple of cases were filed in St Thomas Mount and Korattur police stations in Chennai alleging that the 'A' certification issued by the Censor Board for the movie was not displayed in theatres where they were screened. Fearing a possible arrest in both cases, Suryah has filed advance bail pleas.
