Happy New Year, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah, will hit as many as 6,000 screens worldwide, the most ever, surpassing releases of Dhoom 3 (2013), Kick (2014) and Bang Bang (2014).
Yash Raj Films will be distributing the Red Chillies produced Diwali Bonanaza Happy New Year' in 5,000 (India) in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and 1,000 abroad. With the industries two biggest and powerful names involved in the production and distribution of the year's most touted entertainer starring the global super star and Indian King of Romance - Shah Rukh Khan, Happy New Year' is tagged with enormous expectations.
Considering King Khan blockbuster box office records on Diwali starting right from Baazigar (1993- SRK first biggest taste to success), the festival of celebrations, entertainment, showmanship and success for Shah Rukh Khan is a never ending phenomenon.
With the numbers becoming more and more important with B-town major Big Ticket' festival releases the once exclusive 100 croe club has turned into a cake walk for the Khan brigade.
The disappointing Ra.One (as a film) grossed Rs. 170 crore worldwide in the opening weekend (first five days of release).
The highly anticipated 2011Diwali release even after not filling up to expectations and hype still churned an incredible weekend gross collection of Rs. 137.25 crore (Net Collection of Rs. 96 crore) in India and Rs. 32.75 crore in overseas.
Truly re establishing the fact that Shah Rukh Khan star power is invincible.
Apart from having the super star power of Shah Rukh Khan Happy New Year' has more in its store this Diwali' to keep the excitement running for the audience, Industry and trade.
The 11th SRK Diwali bonanza has some interesting facts attached to it making it a never to be missed experience for the entertainment hungry souls of Bollywood and of course SRK fans worldwide.
SRK's favorite and lucky Yash Raj Banner gets associated though not as a producer but as a distributor and already the movie is writing history by releasing in 6000 screens worldwide. 5,000 (India) in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and 1,000 abroad.
So the opening day will be humongously huge anything between 30 - 35 is possible. Considering the makers smart move to shift its release date to 24th October 2014 (New Year) in many parts of India the audience will be powered by the capacity and willingness to spend during the festival period and what is bigger and better than an SRK starrer coming on screen.
A Farah Khan (many call her - The modern day women Manmohan Desai) entertainer having SRK in lead is set for a great Hatrick after the stupendous success of Mein Hoon Na (2004), Om Shanti Om (2007). Farah's neck to understand the pulse of the audience ensures HNY' will not be just a hyped off screen drama designed only to make money.
King Khan Shah Rukh Khan - we have seen him in many avatars but for the first time the Baadshah of Bollywood will be playing a con artist and that is enough for an SRK loyal to wait with deep breath and excitement on how SRK will enthrall the audience this time.
The combo of Mr. Bachchan and SRK has being deadly on screen - Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, this time Abhishek Bachchan will share the screen for the first time with SRK.. it must be noted that Abhishek Bachchan has featured in Bollywood's biggest box office success Dhoom 3'.
SRK and Deepika Padukone's super hit combo is also poised for a hatrick after Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express (SRK best box office performance - 227 crore.) both have charmed the audience and Deepika in a dancer Marathi mulgi avatar and SRK flaunting his chiseled body as Charlie' (after Om Shanti Om) the screen is set to be set ablaze by the fire in the chemistry between Deepika and SRK.
An SRK potential blockbuster without a current chartbuster is impossible to imagine and here too Vishal Shekhar had already made the world groom to Happy New Year' hit numbers. Indiawaale featuring the entire star cast is believed to be the theme song and is swelling day by day to become an anthem anytime, Lovely Ho Gayi featuring Deepika Padokone is climbing the music charts and Manva Lage is already providing the soothing effect.
Sticking to the buzz right from its trailer launch the hype has being consistent without a single day of null since its announcement on 2nd January 2014.
Extensively marketed and tremendously promoted Happy New Year is already sitting pretty by collecting 202 crore already before hitting the screens in North America, UK and West Asia on the occasion of Diwali - October 23 2014 and in India on Happy New Year day 24th October 2014.
Happy New Year has already pocketed 125 crore from Yash Raj for the worldwide distribution rights, 65 crore from Zee Network for the Satellite rights and 12 crore from T-Series the music rights.. total 202 crore.
The 150 (estimated) crore Diwali Dhamaka Happy New Year' is already on a winning streak.
The deadly combo of dance and action plus the presence of global superstar Shah Rukh Khan with B-town most wanted Deepika Padukone in a Farah Khan entertainer after the highly satisfying nostalgic dive that celebrated Bollywood in Om Shanti Om'. If all goes well and the content matches the hype and expectations, Happy New Year' despite of its reports of being around 3 hours in duration (history reveals Bollywood biggest blockbusters have never being short' of anything) so length will not matter as far as the content is entertaining. Happy New Year' on paper appears set for the biggest Indian box office heist masterminded by the phenomenon called SRK making the audience, the industry and the trade dance to its tune making a 200 crore fortune from its box office collections very likely.
And if something extraordinary comes out.. well the team is capable of pulling surprises and performing beyond expectations Om Shanti Om', Chennai Express'... history will be waiting to get written.
