'Happy Ending': Meet the happy Jay Shankar Tripathi

  • IndiaGlitz, [Tuesday,November 11 2014]

Though he has acted in quite a few films in Hindi till date like Apaharan, Oh My God, Rowdy Rathod, Shaitaan and Pizza, and sashayed in Bollywood at a late age, Jay Shankar Tripathi feels that his best is yet to come as an actor.

Confident that 'Happy Ending' in which Jay Shankar Tripathi plays the comic role of a secretary to Govinda, will carve a niche in the minds of the audiences.

Jai Shankar hails from U.P came all the way to Mumbai when his father took up a job as a driver in BEST and started his career as an actor by acting in more than plays like Jasma Odan, Court Martial, Suman Sana, Munshiji Ki Gudgudiya, Yahudi Ki Ladki among others as a part of the theatre group Ekjute with actor Raj Babbar's wife Nadira Zaheer Babbar and has been an integral part and parcel of the film industry since 2002 when he had made his debut with Prakash Jha's film Apaharan, thanks to an audition that he gave to Prakash Jha.

"I hope that my role in the film Happy Ending will fetch me a little bit of stardom which films in which I had acted till date couldn't fetch me, because I am in almost every scene in which Govinda is there and I could learn a lot after working with an actor of his stature who is versatile", says Jay Shankar Tripathi, who is also banking a lot on his role as a journalist in Sanjay Dutt Productions forthcoming film Hasmukh Pighal Gaya, in which he says he has bagged the golden opportunity work with Amitabh Bachchan.

The actor who has worked in Bhojpuri films like Dulhaniya Laida Rajaji with Mahesh Raja does not mince words. When asked whether he would like to work in more Bhojpuri films, besides Hindi films, he says that the Bhojpuri film industry which was nurtured with love at one time by stalwarts like Nazuir Hussain, Ramayan Tiwari, Sujeet Kumar , Padma Khanna and Kunal Singh is in a sad plight today and he has sworn never to work in Bhojpuri films as he does not wish to be ashamed of being a part of vulgarity.
