He is one tall, dark and handsome hunk, or do we say one of the most eligible bachelors of tinsel town. That's what he looks from outside. But Vishal Krishna aka Puratchi Thalapathy Vishal is the actor who evolved himself to be a wholesome entertainer. Presently Vishal is on his highest career peak ever.
Vishal had an unpretentious beginning playing an income tax officer in the romantic thriller 'Chellamae'. That was in 2004. Perhaps after a long time Kollywood saw a dark son of the soil looking macho man as a hero. Though the film wasn't a super hit, Vishal was evidently identified.
Before coming in front of the camera, Vishal worked as an assistant director and learned the nuances of film making and he also and learned the nuances of fine acting from Koothupattarai. As he had his basics strong Vishal had no problems in going ahead after the right opening.
Some reports said that 'Sandakozhi' collections in B and C centers were better than the phenomenally successful Suriya's film 'Ghajini'! 'Sandakozhi' touched the rare mark of 200 days run. Vishal was so convincing in the film and Kollywood rejoiced.
In the following 'Sivapathikaram', Vishal extended the credibility of his sober yet gritty angry young man image with the help of Karu Palaniappan.
As his career was zooming up he tripped over a few wrong choices, we must say. The staggering started with 'Thamirabharani' and 'Malaikottai' and continued until his ambitious home production 'Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai' hit the dead end. It was rather surprising to many how an intelligent actor like Vishal failed to see the vacuity in the content of films like 'Sathyam' and 'Thoranai'.
Like all self-assured professionals, Vishal came out of his bewilderment quick and discovered what caused those hiccups. He waited for an opportunity to ring the bell again and it came in the guise of director Bala. Bala who set right the careers of stars like Vikram, Suriya and Arya, set his eyes on Vishal and offered him a challenging role in his 'Avan Ivan'.
Vishal grabbed the opportunity and decided to put his heart and soul for his role Walter Vanagamudi. Bala gave Vishal many occasions in the film like a transgender overtones for a song, the scenes in front of actor Suriya to showcase the talent hitherto not revealed. All the pains bore the fruit and 'Avan Ivan' is the best film of Vishal till date.
The box-office success of 'Avan Ivan' had made Vishal wiser and he is carefully treading so that he doesn't trip again. He will now concentrate on one film at a time and make everything perfect to work. After Bala now it is the turn of Prabhu Deva to do a makeover.
Vishal is excited about his ongoing film 'Vedi' directed by Prabhu Deva and he is candidly confesses of its imminent success. Prabhu Deva is known to have given commercial sparklers like 'Pokkiri' with Vijay and 'Wanted' with Salman Khan too is excited to have Vishal with him. Apart from his fire brand actions, Vishal's romances with Sameera Reddy will also make waves in 'Vedi'.
When 'Vedi' explodes later this year it will be yet another new pyrotechnics marking the arrival of yet another new Vishal. He deserves all the adulations.
On his birthday that falls today we wish Vishal all the success in the future. Happy Birthday, Vishal!
