Vijay. He needs no introduction, his name is his business card. To all those who follows movies or otherwise, it would be impossible to not know this actor’s name. Because whatever Vijay does is news. He’s larger than life and wields his charismatic power across millions of fans.

While it’s a little difficult to understand how an average looking actor climbed up to the very top giving all established stars a run for their money, it’s not altogether impossible. First things first, Vijay did not have it easy. One of the common complaints that keep cropping up again and again, is that the actor was helped by his father SA Chandrasekhar to spearhead his film career.

But the fact is the star’s initial films were not received well. And one cannot dismiss the hard work that he put in these films. From an actor who was considered unfit for the screen, Vijay surprsingly with his on screen charisma abroke the myth by performing as charming chocolate boy in films like ‘Sachin’, ‘Kushi’.

And that would become a defining character of not only his films, but also his personality. Break norms, break records, keep astonishing people. One could say that a major shift in his appearance came lately. One could just feel swag oozing out when he dominated in director AR Murugadoss’s films like ‘Kaththi’ and ‘Thuppaki’. You could say he is one actor who has grown gracefully into the roles he chooses breaking the criticisms that he'd never fall out of the generality that he has grown into.

Simplicity

One other factor that Ilayathalapathy fans always point to is his simplicity. He may be blasting energy on the big screen and acing unimaginable dance moves, but off the screen he becomes like one of us. And that is where his strength lies. His approachability has earned him not only millions of fans, but has given fans an opportunity to get a closer glimpse of himself. And relatability. Thus Vijay makes one of those actors who is able to strike the right balance between managing popularity and managing fans.

More human than an actor

And another important factor that makes us adore the actor is his social relevance. Be it voicing out for issues when situation demands it, visiting the affected families (NEET Anitha and Tuticorin protests), he’s been there sans any ruckus. The time he visited  the families who were affected by the Tuticorin protests, he did not even give an interview with the press while most opportunits were just looking to increase their political mileage. That says a lot about his character.

If there is any one actor whose fans strive hard to do good to the society, one can without hesitation say that it is Vijay’s. Even though fans become infamous for the war words against fans of other actors, Vijay fans always give it back by doing more help to the needy.  Be it farmers, the recently storm affected, you can be sure that a Vijay fans club member would be in the scene helping the people. 

Anticipation

Apart from his off screen charisma and acting, needless to say, he is also an excellent dancer who maintains his physique when he’s already over forty.  Now millions of fans are expecting his ‘Thalapathy 62’ aka ‘Vijay 62’ which is being directed by AR Murugadoss and bankrolled by Sun Pictures. The film is slated for a Diwali release.
