Today is the birthday of S.J.Suryah one of the highly creative director of Tamil cinema.

Suryah struggled for many years in the industry before directing his first film Vaali`. He has worked as an assistant to many directors, including Vasanth who has given many poetic films for Tamil cinema.

Surya gave a super hit for Ajith (Vaali`)and Vijay (Kushi`) in a crucial stage of their respective careers. Kushi` was remade in Telugu and Hindi, both directed by Suryah himself and those versions were also super hits.

With his third film New` Suryah ventured into acting and became a lead hero. That film was a success and then on the talented director shifted his focus to acting and started acting as a hero in films directed by others.

After a long back the Suryah came back to what he is best at. He directed Pawan Kalyan in Telugu film Puli`. But Isai` which released last year, after being in the making for a long time was considered as the film which reinvented the extraordinary creator in him. The psychological thriller film with Suryah himself playing the lead role and also turning as a music director, was lapped up by fans and critics for its novel content and the climax twist.

After Isai` Suryah has completed shooting for an important role he plays in Iraivi` directed by Karthik Subbaraj. He is also rumored to be a strong contender to direct Ilayathalabathi` Vijay`s 60th film. If this becomes a reality S.J.Suryah can be expected to recreate the Kushi` magic and he will be back to his glory days.
