Konidela Kalyan was born to Anjana Devi and Venkat Rao belonging to Mogaltur village in Godavari district on September 2, 1971. He got an opportunity, as the brother of Padma Bhushan, Mega Star, Dr Chiranjeevi, to make his debut into films as hero through 'Akkada Ammayi – Ikkada Abbayi' directed by EVV Satyanarayana. While joining the films he changed his name to Pawan Kalyan. Though his debut film failed to prove a commercial hit, the audiences were shell shocked at the adventurous feats done by Pawan Kalyan on his own without any dupe.

His heroic acts — like making 20 cars run over his fingers and keeping three huge boulders on his chest, he made them to break without any help of dupe — had really surprised the audiences.

After the debut film, Pawan Kalyan played hero in 'Gokulamlo Sita' under Mutyala Subbaiah direction and proved that there is a real artiste in him. The first hit in his career came in the form of 'Suswagatham' directed by Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao.

After that, 'Tholi Prema' directed by Karunakaran remained a blockbuster in his career. With this film, Pawan Kalyan earned a distinctive image among the youth, mass and family audiences, not as the brother of Mega Star, but as a hero on his own. Next came, 'Badri' directed by versatile director Puri Jagannath, which earned him the title 'Power Star'.

He competed with versatile artiste Prakash Raj in this movie. In fact, Prakash Raj has the habit of dominating any hero with his performance, but he could not do so in front of Pawan Kalyan in this movie. That film remained a monster hit in Pawan Kalyan's career. The success of this film helped in a rise in the fan following for Power Star. He remained a roll model for several youth in real life.

His film 'Khushi' that came in the direction of SJ Surya remained another blockbuster hit. Pawan Kalyan not only played hero in this movie but also composed action scenes for the movie, which remained quite natural and attracted the audiences in general and Power Star fans in particular.

Pawan Kalyan had a lot of enthusiasm to direct a film. So, he took up direction for a film called 'Johnny' with himself playing the hero. Though the film failed to prove a hit on the expected lines, the movie had brought a gift in the form of Renuka Desai, who turned his life partner after the movie. Though the film could not be a commercial hit, it earned Pawan Kalyan good name and fame as a director and technician.

The films that came later in his film career like 'Gudumba Shankar' under Veerashankar's direction, 'Balu ABCDEFG' under Karunakaran direction, 'Bangaram' under Dharani direction and 'Annavaram' under Bhimaneni direction, though ran as above average or hit films, they fail to match the expected hits of Power Star's image so far. Not only Pawan Kalyan but also all his fans are eagerly awaiting a blockbuster hit in his career again. It is quite surprising that the fan following of this young hero remained static and there is no downward trend, despite successive flops, average hits and hits.

Presently, Power Star is playing hero in a film being produced on the banner of Gita Arts under Trivikram Srinivas direction, whose title is considered to be 'Jalsa'. All his fans are eagerly looking at the release of the film and had a strong belief and expectation that it would become a blockbuster hit.

After this film, Pawan Kalyan signed the dotted line for a film to be produced by popular financier Singanamala Ramesh, which is said to be a heavy budget movie to be directed by SJ Surya, who gave the Power Star a blockbuster hit. Another speciality of this film is that world renowned musician, Maestro AR Rehman is scoring tunes for this flick. In this backdrop, there is no confusion to say that both the forthcoming films of Power Star would be definite blockbusters.

Coming to the personal life of Pawan Kalyan, he is fond of a Russian director called 'Akira Kurosova'. Out of affection towards his favourite director, Pawan Kalyan named his son as Akiranandan. Pawan Kalyan's pastime hobbies are gardening and playing with his pet dogs, besides spending time with his wife Renu and son Akiranandan. Basically, Pawan Kalyan is a vegetarian and is a best friend of Venkatesh. Moreover, he is a favourite hero for many heroines like Trisha, Bhoomika, Mamata Mohandas, Genelia, Nikhita and Suhani and Vijay, a top hero of Tamil film industry.

On the occasion, indiaglitz.com wishes him a very happy birthday and wishes him many more hits and blockbusters in his film career.
