Happy Birthday Thala!

A mere utterance of the two syllable word ‘Thala’ would send shivers down the spine of an ardent Ajith fan. Thala Ajith has managed to amass a astronomical fan following in an unimaginable scale. The only other actor who has risen in contemporary times is Thalapathy Vijay. What makes this otherwise simple, humble man so magnanimous in the hearts of millions of fans could well be made into a subject of study itself.

Leaving future cinema critics and analysts the daunting task, why don’t we just take a few moments to ponder on this casually charismatic personality in Tamil film space.  Ask any Ajith fan, one of the foremost pointers they would like you to note is Ajith’s path to glory, that he is a ‘self-made’ man, and you needn’t even doubt it for a moment.

Amidst an industry known for heavy lobbying and nepotism, Ajith sure did make his own way. He was his own ‘King Maker’ in a real and honest sense. One of the attributes that still proves that the actor was walked the path of tribulations is his shining humility and modest personality.

Unknown to many is that this superstar’s very first experience with films is not a Tamil flick, but a Telugu outing. The film titled ‘Prema Pusthakam’ directed by Gollapudi Srinivas never saw the screens as the director passed away during the shooting. With a sore hit inhis very first project, one would have expected the actor to lose frame and bow down in timeof despair. But, we know what happened as the rest is history.

Ajith’s career is ever evolving with projects of varying treatments and flavours, but what remains true will be his core intrinsic nature at work. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he might as well become the George Clooney of Kollywood, charmingly handsome and extraordinarily humane. Not to mention Ajith’s devotion to his family is a well established fact.

He has also never diverted himself from giving time to his personal hobbies and other interests such as aero-modelling or racing. Now, you’ve a man who sticks by what he loves in life. It is this ability of him to keep the mass excited despite him being averse to social appearance, makes him and enigma and an interesting study in non-proclaimed charisma.

We’re not here to talk about Ajith’s filmography, not even dissect him from the perspective of a non-film personality. This article is just that, a meaningful call to lose a few moments in wonderment of the superstar called Thala Ajith.

Happy Birthday Thala!
