As Shruthi Haasan celebrates her birthday today (Jan. 28), she is all set to surpass new heights in the coming year. Year 2011 was particularly happening. In our view, the first glimpses of her immense talent were palpable in her subdued and sparkling performance in Oh My Friend, opposite Siddharth. What a Bollywood debut (Luck) and even a film under AR Murugadoss (7th Sense) did not give her, this role of an all-weather friend offered her the platform to showcase her mettle. She came across as someone who instinctively knows the nuances of fine acting.

Yet another offer that came in the form of Gabbar Singh, opposite Pawan Kalyan, would make her say that she is playing the most challenging role in her career. In 2012, the actress awaits the release of this Dabbang remake, and also 3, the Tamil film, where she is cast opposite Dhanush.

There has been a slow and gradual changeover in her image as an actress. After playing a research scholar and an urbane girl, she is going to be seen in a traditional role for the first time in Gabbar Singh. Her strengths being her lively face, fair complex and tall physique, she also bottles up inside a lot of maturity and innocence.
