Hanu Man, the much-anticipated superhero film, marks a groundbreaking moment in Telugu cinema, introducing audiences to the realm of superheroes. Crafted by the acclaimed filmmaker Prashanth Varma, this fantasy drama is poised for release on January 12, 2023.
The unveiling of the trailer at a grand event in Hyderabad left a lasting impression, revealing a project that is not only ambitious but also visually stunning and rich in content. Set in the enchanting Anjanadri, the narrative revolves around Teja Sajja, portraying a young man endowed with the extraordinary powers of Hanuman.
Drawing inspiration from the Itihasas of Akhand Bharat, the film immediately immerses viewers in the fantasy universe of Anjanadri. The underwater sequence captivates as the protagonist approaches a pearl shell, radiating like a star, accompanied by a resonant chant: "Yatho Dharma Tato Hanuma... Yatho Hanuma Tato Jaya..." (Where there is righteousness, there is Hanuman, and where there is Hanuman, there is victory).
Anjanadri's allure is heightened by the majestic Hanuman hill, adorned with a colossal statue of Hanuman and cascading water. The Raghunandana chant in the background evokes chills. The protagonist emerges as a superhero, showcasing his powers by running alongside a cheetah, lifting a hill, and confronting adversaries within his tribe. The narrative takes a dark turn with the introduction of an antihero, a character who harnesses his superpowers through scientific means and assembles an army to become the world's ruler. His destructive arrival spares nothing, even the innocent children, and the protagonist faces brutal attacks.
As darkness eclipses Dharma, the ancient forces rise once again, leading to the long-awaited appearance of Lord Hanuman. The teaser hinted at Hanuman praying in an ice cube, breaking free in the trailer, symbolizing his role as the protector of Dharma a truly spine-chilling revelation. While the trailer offers a visual spectacle, its 208-second duration leaves viewers yearning for more. Director Prasanth Varma's dedication is evident in every frame, creating a captivating universe that seamlessly blends science and spirituality. Teja Sajja excels in his role as the underdog bestowed with superpowers, delivering a compelling performance. Vinay Rai captivates with his villainous portrayal, and Samuthirakani leaves a strong impression as a Sadhu. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Get-up Srinu, and Vennela Kishore also shine in their respective roles.
Dasaradhi Shivendra's cinematography captures the grandiosity of Anjanadri, while Hari Gowra's background score elevates the emotional beats. The superior VFX and meticulously choreographed action sequences add to the film's appeal. Production design by Srinagendhra Tangala and sharp editing by Saibabu Talari contribute to the film's international standards, reflecting the commitment of producer K Niranjan Reddy of PrimeShow Entertainments.
The narrative takes a compelling turn as the protagonist's life faces a formidable challenge from a supervillain, portrayed by Vinay Rai, who seeks to seize all the special powers from Anjanadri and dominate the world. The clash between the young man with unique abilities and the supervillain forms the core of the gripping storyline. Director Prashanth Varma masterfully crafts a cinematic universe that combines grand visuals, thrilling sequences, and a prestigious production stage. With an ensemble cast including Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Deepak Shetty, Getup Srinu, and Satya, and music composed by Anudeep Dev and Krishna Saurabh, Hanu Man promises an exciting cinematic experience. Zee 5 has secured the OTT rights, and the film, distributed by Pen Studios, is set to release in eleven languages after completing its post-production formalities.
