On the eve of Diwali we caught up with the ever bubbly Hansika for an exclusive telephonic interview in which she opens up about all the latest things that`s been happening around her. Here we go.
How is your Diwali celebrations going to be?
It's going to be a big party at my house with friends and I am gonna have a blast playing cards, having fun and a big dinner. On Saturday I have booked a banquet for the kids I have adopted. I have organized games for them. I am an animal lover so no crackers for me. On Diwali this Sunday (Mumbai), we have a pooja at home. For the past twenty five years I have spent all my Diwalis at home.
Are you a cat person or a dog person?
I am only a dog lover and I have a nice fawn colored one at home.
You had two hits Aranmanai 2` and Manithan` this year how do you feel about that?
I am very happy and I knew that both these films had the potential to emerge winners at the box office. In Manithan` I did not again play a bubbly thing, but my character was calm and composed. Aranmanai 2` was challenging because I had to play the ghost and that too I was the only actress from the first part and had to make sure that my performance was better than the first.
How is working in Bogan` sharing screen space with Jayam Ravi and Arvind Swamy?
I am very comfortable working in Bogan` as this is my third film with Jayam Ravi and second with Lakshman and most of the crew is the same that worked in Romeo Juliet`. It`s a wonderful script and the project has a great buzz around it and I hope people like me in it.
How about working with Arvind Swamy…Did you feel the pressure?
He does not behave like the huge star he is, he makes me feel comfortable by cracking jokes and he is so handsome and people always keep watching him. Though I cannot say that I am a fangirl, but I do admire him.
How much can you disclose about your role in Bogan`?
I don`t want to say a word (Laughs)…But just to you all I can say is that Arvind Swamy, Jayam Ravi and myself have equal characters and that is how the film evolves. I have a very important role in the film.
How much do you think you have achieved on the commercial route?
People in the industry call me a commercial heroine, but I would say that Manithan` for example, had a strong story and still became a commercial hit. I make sure that whatever film I do, I enjoy my role.
Would you do a heroine centric film?
People may think that I am young and it is early for me to try a woman centric film, but if I get an opportunity I would go ahead and do it for sure.
Share us the secret of being the cutest and hottest heroine of South India…
Firstly, I eat to live and not live to eat so it is always less amount of food which is strictly healthy. I practice yoga and I play squash a lot and that is how I maintain my body and looks.
Your rapport with contemporaries…
It is not only important to have a rapport with contemporaries, but also with the cast and crew of every film I work on. I have a very good rapport with everyone. I am a very reserved person and have very few friends in the industry while most of my close ones are from school and college.
What are your other passions?
It is acting that I love and that is my passion and, other than that I love is sleeping (Laughs).
Making friends while travelling around the globe..
Yeah I meet a lot of fans while travelling and I always have fans who come to me and ask me to come back to the city again. Some who even go up in tears and I have to hug and console them.
Your experience working with Sivakarthikeyan when he was not such a big star…
I always adore and cherish Sivakarthikeyan`s success which he richly deserves being a very talented man and I am glad I did Maan Karate` with him. We will surely do a film together again when we get a chance.
Would you do a film with Thala Ajith?
Of course I would love to work with Ajith and it is very unfortunate that we don`t get scripts together and I hope we do soon.
You`ve worked consecutively with Sundar C…
Sundar is one person who will always stand by me in the industry who I can pick up the phone and call any time for anything even like whether I should do a film or not. He calls me Queen Bee and he has given the best films of my career so far. He is very close to me and I treat him like a mentor and I won't hesitate to call him even after ten years and ask his advice for signing a project.
