The tomb of the famous medieval-era Madhwa saint Sri Vyasaraja Tirtha has been found desecrated in Anegundi near Hampi, Karnataka. This one is a World Heritage Site.

As per early reports, the razing of the Nava Brindavan Gadde on the banks of River Tungabhadra was discovered by devotees on Thursday morning.

Who caused the desecration is yet to be established. However, as per early police statements, it must have been done by treasure-hunters either on Tuesday or earlier.

The vandalism has raised a hue and cry among a section of Hindus. Surprisingly, no CCTV surveillance was ever in place in this area. As such, it's not easy to find the culprits.
