'Haasam' Raja feted with Asia Pacific Achievers Award

Veteran musicologist Raja, a well-known expert on Telugu songs (both old and new), has been feted with the Asia Pacific Achievers Award in Music at an event held in Dubai. The award was conferred by the US-based Royal Academy of Global Peace.
Also called fondly as 'Hasam' Raja, the musicologist has penned books on the Telugu film songs and their musical styles. 'Aa Patha Madhuram' is his most recent book. Critically acclaimed for his excellent and original analyses of Telugu cinema music, Raja comes with an in-depth knowledge of the art and technique of music.
He is known to point out the roots of a song even if the root song belongs to a non-Telugu language. For about 40 years, he has served to offer film songs as a research subject. He has collected about 40,000 songs and about 1,000 film information troves. Till date, he has collected information on some 40,000 songs.
