A court in the US has said that it won't strike down the current rule that allows the spouses of H-1B visa holders to work in the country. The rule was brought into force by Obama in 2015. This has been sought to be struck down by the current administration, led by Donald Trump. With the court's intervention, the proposal to do away with the rule has received a setback, at least temporarily.
What is a H-1B visa? "It is a non-immigrant visa letting American companies to employ foreign workers. The visa is given for those who are qualified to do specialty works," say official documents.
The lawsuit which has been seeking to strike down the rule has been sent to a lower court.
The court's ruling has come as a relief for thousands of Indians in America.
