As the tenure of BS Yediyurappa was just 55 hours as chief minister in the newly elected 15th Karnataka State assembly because floor test was not taken with 104 seats and resignation was tendered to governor, the new incumbent of the coalition government is a film personality HD Kumaraswamy.

HDK of Janata Dal Secular is forming government with Congress I support. JDS has won 38 seats while Congress I has 78 seats. The swearing in ceremony of HD Kumaraswamy is taking place on Wednesday at 4.30 pm in front of Vidhana Soudha. The governor of Karnataka invited HD Kumaraswamy to form government soon after BS Yediyurappa tendered his resignation.

This is the second time HD Kumaraswamy is becoming chief minister of Karnataka. He hails from cinema production, exhibition and distribution sector. He produced films like Suryavamsha, Chandra Chakori, Galate Aliyandru, Premotsava, Jitendra and the recent is the debut of his son Nikil kumaraswamy ‘Jaguar’ a lavish budget cinema. The film ‘Seetharama Kalyana’ second of his son in lead with Rachita Ram as heroine is also in progress.

HD Kumaraswamy second wife Radhika is a well known film actress. Both have a girl child Shramika. HD Kumaraswamy first wife is Smt Anitha Kumaraswamy who heads the Kasthuri Television channel.
