Today is the birthday of G.V.Prakash Kumar, who is a leading music composer and a hero.

GVP is the nephew of Isaipuyal A.R.Rahman and his first stint with cinema was as a child singer. In his late teenage he emerged as a music director and his debut flick as a composer is the critically acclaimed 'Veyyil' directed by Vasanthabalan. that released in 2006. Since his debu, GVP has constantly remained as one of the top composers in Kollywood with many super hit albums and songs falling under various genres.

Especially he has composed a lot of melodies that as timeless classics which remain eternal in the playlists of music buffs. The list includes 'Akkam Pakkam' (Kireedom), 'Ayyayyo Nenju' (Aadukalam), 'Pookkal Pookkum Tharunam' (Madarasapattinam), 'Pirai Thedum Nilavile' (Mayakkam Enna) and 'En Jeevan' (Theri). His 50th film as a music director was Ilayathalapathy Vijay starrer 'Theri'. All the songs in the album have turned out to be chartbusters.

He has also worked in films of other language, such as Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. He made his Bollywood debut with Anurag Kashyap's critically acclaimed flick 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and its sequel. He is also very good as a singer and has crooned the songs composed by him as well as other music directors.

While holding his grip as a composer GVP has also emerged as a successful hero in the recent years. 'Darling' his first release as the hero was a sleeper hit. The success streak followed with the bold adult comedy 'Trisha Illana Nayanthara' and now he has emerged as one of the bankable young heroes of Kollywood. His next release will be 'Enakku Innoru Per Irukku' which will be hitting the screens this Friday (June 17). Apart from this he has a lot of films under his kitty and the list includes 'Brucelee', 'Kadavul Irukkaan Kumaru' with director M.Rajesh and many other projects that are in pre-production stage.
