Director Rajiv Menon had returned to direction after a huge gap post Kandukondain Kandukondain, with the musical entertainer Sarvam Thaala Mayam, released earlier this year. The movie was about a Mridangam maker's son achieving it big in music, despite the challenges.

Sarvam Thaala Mayam had music by AR Rahman and starred music director and actor GV Prakash and Aparna Balamurali in lead roles, while Nedumudi Venu, Kumaravel, Vineeth and Dhivyadharshini played important supporting roles.

While the movie did not work at the box office, now it is set to receive an international recognition. GV Prakash took it to Twitter to announce that Sarvam Thaala Mayam has been selected in the World Panorama section of Shanghai International Film Festival which will be held between July 15 and 24.
