Adarsh Srivastava was just a normal passenger travelling in the Muzaffarpur- Bandra Awadh Express. He was travelling inthe S5 coach. But when he heard some 25 girls crying uncomfortably in his compartment, he was soon to take action.
He used his smarts and presence of mind to tweet the situation online tagging the Railway ministry, PMO et al. Thanks to the officials at Lucknow and Varanasi, the police official swung into action within half an hour of the tweet.
The GRP immediately coordinated with the anti-trafficking unit of the police. Then two RPF soldiers boarded the train in normal clothes and escorted the girls away to Gorakhpur. So the lesson learnt here is if social media is used the right way, it could even help save lives and avert dangers.
