Two unidentified persons opened fire from firearms outside the residence of Bollywood icon Salman Khan in Mumbai early Sunday morning, police said. Four rounds of firing took place at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where the actor stays. Locals, in addition to crime-branch authorities, had initiated the investigation into the matter. The teams for the examination included forensic science specialists.
In a statement, Mumbai police said, "At about 5 a.m. today, outside the residence of Salman Khan at Bandra, two unknown persons fired. Three rounds were heard by the police. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has begun an investigation."
The incident comes after recent security improvements for the actor, who had been facing threats from people like gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar since November 2022. Just in January of this year, Khan was accorded Y-Plus protection along with permission to carry a firearm. He has also got a new armored vehicle.
The past part of this year has seen a rise in death threats. Salman Khan had been maneuvering with a huge security retinue. His promotion to Y+ security status comes after a reported death threat from the Bishnoi Gang.
Reflecting on his situation, Salman said during his appearance on 'Aap Ki Adalat' in April, "I am traveling with high-level security everywhere. I know that whatever happens will happen. God is with us; that's it. I will not move around that freely; the kind of security these people are having and the number of weapons these people will be carrying—even I am feeling very worried."
