In a gory incident in New Zealand, a gunman on Friday massacred 49 people in two mosques. This is the worst mass shooting that NZ has ever witnessed in its history. Four people, including a woman, have been taken into custody. The police are yet to determine how many of these were directly involved in the mass shooting in the city of Christchurch.
The gunman and his acolytes are believed to hold Islamophobic views. They have extremist views against immigrants. The Bangladesh cricket team escaped the tragedy, reports have said.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has described the act as terrorism. "This attack is one of New Zealand's darkest days. This is an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence, which has no place in this country," she said.
One of the gunmen reportedly telecasted his dastardly act on Facebook. "Police are aware there is extremely distressing footage relating to the incident in Christchurch circulating online. We would strongly urge that the link not be shared. We are working to have any footage removed," a statement from the NZ police says.
