Rapper Dharmesh Parmar, who was popularly known by his stage name MC Tod Fod, passed away at the age of 24. The cause of death is said to be a result of a pre-existing heart ailment, said Azadi Records co-founder, Uday Kapur. “He was playing football with his Swadesi crew members at a place near Nashik when he collapsed. Right now, his friends and family are completely shell-shocked,” he said.
MC Tod Fod did the rap for the Gully Boy track India 91. MC Tod Fod was also associated with Mumbai-based hip-hop collective, Swadesi. Upon learning about MC Tod Fod's untimely demise, the movie's actors Ranveer Sing, Siddhant Chaturvedi and the film’s director, Zoya Akhtar, have mourned his death. Ranveer shared a photo of the rapper on Instagram with a broken heart emoji. Siddhant, meanwhile, shared a screenshot of his conversation with the late rapper. “RIP bhai,” the Gehraiyaan actor wrote. “You have gone way too soon. I can only be grateful our paths crossed. Rest in peace Bantai,” Zoya wrote.
Gully Boy was inspired by the lives of Indian street rappers Divine and Naezy. The film has Ranveer Singh playing the role of Murad, an aspiring street rapper while Siddhant Chaturvedi played the role of his mentor, MC Sher. The movie, which also featured actresses Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin, Vijay Varma, and Vijay Raaz, was a commercial hit and also won critical acclaims.
