'Gulf', directed by P Suneel Kumar Reddy, had its logo released by ace director Sukumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Suku said, "I got acquaintance with Suneel Kumar Reddy garu from the days of 'Oka Romantic Crime Katha', which left me shocked as it was very fresh. It was after this that I watched his movie 'Gangaputrulu'. He not only made it but also got success with a film like 'ORCK'. I have since become affectionate towards him. Not that I watch all his movies, but I keep myself abreast with the kind of movies he makes. I even thought of remaking 'ORCK' into Hindi if he is not making it in Bollywood".
Sukumar further praised Suneel's ability to carry out research before doing a film. "While most of us don't do that, he does it. I observe that researching gives him a lot of satisfaction," he added.
Sukumar revealed that the director made 'Gulf' only after researching into the lives of NRIs in the Gulf. "He went all the way to the Gulf, met them and researched about their living conditions. I have seen people who go there in search of livelihoods and send back remittances. I hope 'Gulf' becomes a big hit. Pulagam Chinnarayana, who has written the film's dialogues, is an author-journalist himself," Sukumar said.
Suneel said that the film dealt with a love story and certain social issues. Producer Ravindra Babu said, "This is our 14th film with the director under Sravya Films banner. The shoot has been completed. The film is in post-production now. The output is very good".
Chinnarayana described the film as a sincere attempt put in by two journalists. "The film explores certain dark aspects as well as love and emotions involving youngsters who flock to the Gulf countries in search of employment. This is a pure and naked attempt at depicting the reality as it is. This is not an art film, but a 'heart' film," the dialogue writer said.
