A 24-year-old woman has been admitted to a hospital in Gujarat's Vadodara after suffering serious injuries inflicted by her husband after he was defeated by her in the ludo game, that has been growing popular across the country amid the nationwide coronavirus lockdown.
The incident happened at the couple's residence in Vadodara when the husband had asked the woman to play a game of ludo with him. When she defeated him in the game, he reportedly started beating her in a fit of rage. The abuse was so brutal that a gap emerged between her vertebrae, according to an orthopedic surgeon. Following the treatment, the woman decided to move out of her husband's house to stay with her parents. The woman did not file an official complaint with the police as he had apparently apologized to her, but a counsellor from 181 Abhayam has warned the man that physical torture is a crime and he could be arrested if his wife complained.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) launched a WhatsApp number recently to report cases of domestic violence, which have increased during the coronavirus lockdown period.
