A head constable posted at the Dabhoi police station in Gujarat's Vadodara district tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. He has been diagnosed with the virus two days after he nabbed a thief who was found to be infected as well.
The accused, a 52-year-old man, was caught stealing pan masala on Tuesday and was sent for a medical examination as per standard protocol. "Immediately after he tested positive, samples of our policemen involved in the operation to nab the accused were also sent for testing. One of our head constables tested positive while four others from the Dabhoi police station were placed under home quarantine," a senior police officer reportedly said. The source of the infection is yet to be determined.
