Gudumba Shankar
Pawan Kalyan is an enigma wrapped in mystery. Despite coming from a family steeped in cinema, he shuns the show lamps with determined gusto. On the contrary, he willingly courts a Greta Garbo-like aloofness. He prides his individuality and does not let anyone poke into his domain.
This mystique surrounds his films too. Pawan does not let the story of his films out. Nor does he believe in giving out bite-sized nuggets on his films. If you want to know anything about his films, you have to wait till their release.
Gudumba Shankar, Pawan Kalyan movie scheduled for release in August, falls into typical pattern. There is hardly anything concrete available the film. Pawan has put an iron curtain on the making the film. Except for the fact that he is paired opposite Meera Jasmine and the movie is directed by Veera Shankar, only sketchy details are available about the film.
The broad story line revolves around the eponymous the urchin-like Gudumba Shankar- Pawan loves to play eponymous roles (Johnny and Badri readily come to mind). He is a man with attitude and the story evolves on his relationship with a beautiful girl who comes into his life.
Pawan, who has set much store on this film, has personally supervised most of the aspects of the movie. He is said to have got the best out of music director Mani Sharma and the technical aspects of Gudumba Shankar is also said to be top-drawer stuff.
For Meera Jasmine, the petite heroine from Malayalam (via Tamil), this should be a major stepping stone. Though her other movie with Sivaji may be released earlier, this flick is, however, the most expected.
Pawan has done painstaking research and back-room work for Gudumba Shankar. He obviously cannot afford a Johhny-like failure. So he is doubly careful. For Veera Shankar too, a success in Gudumba Shankar can take him to great heights in the industry. So he is also putting his best foot forward.
If Pawan doesn't click, there may not be any place for him to hide.
