What is it all about?

Grand Masti the extension to the 2004 hit Masti brand is very well performed by the lead and is loyal to its raunchy genre with some outrageously hilarious episodes that makes the movie passable in the b-town standards of an adult comedy.. `cool'..

But even after nine years the extension has no `hot' flames on its own to ignite the lewd genre.. Making it strictly for its die hard followers who like to be pressed under the belt to crack a smile and a hole in their wallet..

The Story

The writers Tushar Hiranandani and Milap Zaveri formulaic approach makes `Grand Masti' stick to its genre but fails to raise the bar.. its more raunchy and less funny then Masti.. Where nothing changes in the world of nerds since 2004 but it's not a sequel though the basic premise of three married men finding themselves in wanted and unwanted situations in their mission to get laid is the same and Ajay Devgn is out of picture.

What to look out for

Movies like `Grand Masti' are supposed to go below the belt and be raunchy. Indra Kumar as the director is successful in doing this. a few scenes are hilarious and have the capacity to bring the house down. It is successful in serving the basics to its die hard audience. Such movies are never supposed to say any cinematic language and `Grand Masti' is happy to take the pride. Divulging those situations will be spoil sport but this below the belt entertaining pill is prescribed for those souls of cinema who love such outrageously bawdy fun..

Performance are topnotch where Ritesh Deshmukh takes the lead in this role which is tailored made for him..

Vivek Oberoi is very good. Aftab throws in lot of effort. Pradeep Rawat and Suresh Menon are funny. All the ladies Karishma Tanna, Manjari Fadnis Sonalee Kulkarni, Kainaat Arora, Bruna Abdalah, Maryam Zakaria add to the glamour and do what they are suppose to do in such genres.

Technicalities are fine.

What not

Grand Masti makes a deliberate attempt to satisfy the audience hunger with its raunchy starters (read episodes) and doesn't care much about the main course (the film).. Masti ran high on the gross-out humor, but underneath it had heart plus the music played a vital role.. we still remember `Dil De Diya Hai' by Anand Raj Anand.. This time the music disappoints.. so as the film which fails to get the required emotional connect that leaves a bland aftertaste to the film.

Conclusion: The standard of adult comedies in B-town has never been very high, Masti was able to score because it followed the law to be raunchy as well as funny with some heart. Grand Masti in its grandiosity spends more on the bawdy feelings with less funny and hardly any emotional healing..
