Govt gives 'Icon of Golden Jubilee' to Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth has been given the title of 'Icon of Golden Jubilee' by the Government of India. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar made the announcement on Saturday. "In recognition of his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, during the past several decades, I am happy to announce that the award for the ICON OF GOLDEN JUBILEE OF #IFFI2019 is being conferred on cine star Shri S Rajnikanth," he said.
Expressing his thankfulness, the legendary actor said, "I thank the government of India for this prestigious honour bestowed upon me on the golden jubilee of the International film festival of India."
Rajini is often described as India's last superstar. Hero-worshipped in Tamil Nadu, he is vastly popular across south India. He enjoys familiarity across India. Currently, he is doing AR Murugadoss' 'Darbar', which is a Sankranthi 2020 release.
