Ilayaraja in a recent interview had attacked '96' music director as being impotent for using some of his songs in the film to enhance a few key scenes. He had opined that if Govind is truly talented he should have composed new songs to echo the 80s period in which the story is set.
Govind Vasantha has replied to Ilayaraja by releasing a video of himself playing on violin the classic Ilayaraja song "Sundari kannaal Oru seithi" from Mani Ratnam's 'Thalapathy'. He has also captioned it "Forever Fan of Ilayaraja". Netizens are lauding the young composer for his humble and mature handling of the scathing criticism from the legendary music director.
