Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan on Wednesday asked the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government to restore IAS officer Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the State Election Commissioner. The Governor sent a letter to the government on the basis of the High Court's recent directions in this regard.

Reports say that the Governor has already communicated about the letter to Ramesh Kumar as well.

This comes a day after the IAS officer approached the Governor with the request that he be restored as the SEC. This happened just a day after the YCP government moved the Supreme Court to avert any such move.

During his Tuesday meeting with the Governor at the Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada, the IAS officer is reported to have brought to the notice of the Governor that the HC had confirmed his reinstatement as SEC.
