Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit got into yet another fresh controversy by patting the cheeks of a female scribe at Raj Bhawan, his official residence, instead of replying to a particular query posed by her.
Bespectacled Lakshmi Subramanian, the female scribe in question, shot a specific query to Governor Purohit who chose to pat her cheeks instead of replying to the question orally, thus raising a huge controversy. Netizens have taken to social networking sites in a huge manner demanding action against Governor for touching a girl without her consent.
Purohit met a group of scribes at Raj Bhawan in the backdrop of raging controversy over arrested Virudhunagar Maths professor Nirmala Devi, who attempted to lure poor girl students to fall for the ‘sex-for-marks’ offer, saying she would not only give them good marks but also huge cash if they ‘adjusted’ for a night with the higher-ups in the management of Madurai Kamaraj Univesity to which her college has been affiliated.
Nirmala reportedly refers to Governor in her recorded audio urging the students to take up the offer. Students complained it to the management and hence the uproar. Nirmala was arrested on Sunday. During the question-answer session, Lakshmi shot a question to the Govenor to which the latter not only likened her to his grand-daughter but also patted her cheeks when she least expected him to do so.
Later, tweeting on her Twitter account, Lakshmi said “the Governor decided to patronizingly – an without consent – pat my cheeks as a reply. Washed my face several times; still not able to get out of it; I’m so angered and agitated by the Governor’s act; it might by grand-fatherly in nature to him but to me, it was a wrong thing,” she tweeted thus.
