'The Family Man 2' has caught the imagination of the Indian OTT audience ever since it came out on June 4. Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Samantha Akkineni and others, its character Chellam Sir has been of particular interest. Played by Kollywood actor-director Uday Mahesh, the character has featured in a countless number of memes on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Now, the Government of India itself has meme-fied Chellam Sir in order to promote vaccination. In a meme posted by an official handle of the Health Ministry, Srikant Tiwari is seen calling up Chellam Sir and asking whether he should take Covishield or Covaxin. The latter replies that the question itself is wrong and that all vaccines are safe. He further says: "You should ask when to get vaccinated. The answer, is, as soon as possible. And don't forget to follow covid appropriate behaviour even after getting vaccinated."
In the meme, both the characters are seen wearing a surgical mask.
Reacting to the meme, creators of the web series Raj & DK wrote: "Very creative and fun."
Chellam Sir's popularity is because he helps the protagonist crack the assassination plot of the villains in his own style. While the character is not novel or amazingly smart, the viewers have loved it because of the unassuming way in which it has been written.
