It's now said that the Government might issue a notification that permits smoking scenes in films with a scroll with a statutory warning that smoking is injurious to heath.

This notification mandates that films with scenes of people smoking, runs a scroll that smoking is injurious to health at the start of the film, right after the interval and during the smoking scene. The apex court bench of Justice P Sathasivam and Justice Ranjan Gogoi were told this.

Senior counsel V. Shekhar, appearing for the government, told the court that the notification superseding all earlier notifications prohibiting smoking scenes would be issued Sep 14.
