Government's "spelling twist" to 'Gethu' controversy

We had reported earlier that Udhayanidhi Stalin had moved court regarding the state government`s refusal to exempt his pongal release Gethu` from entertainment tax stating that the title was not a Tamil word.

The case again came up yesterday and the Government pleader put forth the explanation that Gethu` is not a Tamil word and further if the team had spelt it as Kethu` in English it was ok but since they spelt it as Gethu` it cannot be accepted !!!. The Director of Tamil Develpment Department has also confirmed in his petition that the title was not a Tamil word. The Judge then posted the case for the 29th of January.
