Except for the lead casting of Sharwanand and Samantha, little details about cast of ’96 Telugu remake have emerged, with the makers choosing to keep a lid over giving any other information. The original, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan, told the story of two high school sweethearts who meet at a reunion after 22 years and reminisce about their past over the course of an evening. The school portions formed a meaty segment of the film, taking everyone a trip down memory lane and Gouri G Kishan, who played the younger Trisha, walked away with a ton of accolades for her nuanced portrayal. Director Prem Kumar contemplated someone else to play the same part in the remake to bring in a sense of freshness but after his frantic search to find a right girl failed, he chose to repeat the teenage sensation for Telugu as well.
Meanwhile, the latest about the film, whose shoot was halted after Sharwanand injured his shoulder while prepping for an action sequence in Thailand earlier this June, has resumed at Radison Blu Plaza, Hyderabad last week. Both Sam and Sharwaa were spotted filming some scenes. In another week or two, the entire filming will be wrapped up, a little birdie hints. Producer Dil Raju hasn’t fixed any release date.
