A popular 38-year-old film and TV actress was allegedly molested by an inebriated driver in Goregaon on Friday. As both their vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, the actress had tried to confront the driver of the car. When they got into a heated argument, the driver, who was in a drunken state, allegedly molested her.

The police reportedly mentioned that the incident happened outside a hospital in Goregaon where the Marathi actress was in a car with her children as they were on their home. It was when they encountered the man, identified as Pritam Verma, who was travelling with his family. "The actress and the accused had a row over reversing vehicles. When the war of words escalated, the actress got off her vehicle and approached the accused. The altercation got noisier as the accused used expletives. When Verma came out, another heated argument ensued, following which the actress attempted to slap him but was stopped when Verma held her hand," a senior police officer was quoted as saying by news agencies.

"Offended by the act, the actress approached Goregaon Police and lodged a complaint of molestation against Verma," the official reportedly added. Based on the victim's complaint, Verma was booked under section 354 (molestation), section 509 (intentional insult), section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code along with section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act for drunken driving. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody.
