Google slapped with huge fine for illegal business tricks

In a shocking news, Google has been fined with a whopping 4.34 billion euros. The accusation was that Google is using its mobile operating system ‘to cement its dominant position in general internet search’. The company has been given a timeline of 90 days to pay the fine or 5% of its daily avferage income will be levied to fine as extra.

While Google’s parent Alphabet can easily pay the fine, Google is planning to appeal the judgement. It is believed that Google’s violations come under the following three points:

1.Google required android mobile users to intall its search engine and its own web browser Chrome to allow access to its PlayStore.

2.Google paid mobile phone manufactures large amounts of money to pre-install its search app on their devices.

3.Google did not allow mobile phone manufacturers to come out with modified versions of android, stating that it wouldn’t give access to its Playstore.

The European Commission is overseeing the case since 2015 and it is worth mentioning here that it began examining after a complaint from a trade group which included giants namely Microsoft, Oracle and Nokia.
