A Google product manager, identified as Sonam Saxena, was arrested by the Hawaii police on suspicion of second-degree murder of his wife. He was later released from custody Friday pending investigation, according to officials.

Sonam Saxena (43), from Bellevue, Washington, was taken into police custody after a woman's body was discovered near Aneahoomalu bay, the general area where Sonam Saxena's wife, Smriti Saxena (41), who worked for Microsoft, was reported missing. Sonam and Smriti were travelling with their daughters to Hawaii when Smriti allegedly suffered an asthma attack on the beach, according to a statement by Sonam. He claimed that he walked all the way up to their room in the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort to get her inhaler but that she went missing when he got back to the spot.

He reportedly mentioned the ordeal to a news agency, "She got an asthma attack right there on the beach and she was feeling weak and she didn't want to walk all the way back because it's almost a 20-minute walk back from that beach to our room, So I said, 'Hey, you know what? You stay here, you have your phone with you and I'll just go to the room, grab your inhaler and pump and come back."

Prior to his arrest, Sonam had requested the media to help find his wife after the police allegedly refused to answer his phone calls. He even took to Twitter to post a tweet that read, "@GovHawaii my wife has been missing since last night and @Hawaii_Police is busy giving interviews to media about body recovered, but is unwilling to pick up my phone."

Sonam and Smriti had reportedly been married for 17 years and would visit Hawaii every year to celebrate the birthday of their oldest daughter. Sonam was arrested by the police after they found Smriti's body on Wednesday morning on suspicion of second degree murder. Even though her autopsy reports are back, more tests are currently underway to determine the exact cause of her death. A formal investigation regarding the matter is ongoing and further updates are awaited.
