Google AI to predict health problems through eye-scan

Google's Artificial Intelligence technology has been developed by researchers to revolutionize healthcare, especially in resource-strapped countries like India. Recently, its CEO Sundar Pichai said that cardiovascular events can be predicted by means of an eye scan. If this is scaled up and spread across the world, there will be no need for so many tests (such as MRI, CT scan) that are in vogue currently. Just by conducting a retinal scan, health events can be predicted with good accuracy.
Says Mandeep Mwatra, "Healthcare can benefit so much from AI. From pattern recognition-based diagnostics to the recent advancement of retina scan-based recognition of cardiovascular and diabetic symptoms, it can be disruptive and transformational."
"Technologies like this one can democratize healthcare. Google has been implementing using AI to cure diabetic retino therapy in some hospitals in India. The learning will be deployed for higher research in the area of diagnostics.
