Internet search engine giant Google is facing a $5 billion class action lawsuit for tracking Chrome users in its incognito mode. The lawsuit was filed in the federal court in San Jose, California which accuses the company of saving information of what users view besides tracking the pages visited, despite the claim that incognito mode is private.

Further, the complainant claims that the data gathered via Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager, etc enables Google to collect information and track user's contacts, hobbies, habits, and private data and embarrassing stuff people search online.

The complaint seeks a compensation of at least $5,000 for violations of federal wiretapping and California privacy laws for people who have used incognito mode since June 1, 2016. However, Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda said that Chrome clearly says whenever an user opens a new incognito tab, websites will collect browsing activity information and that Google will defend itself in court.
