Mohanlal may had a bad year in 2005 with a few of films disappearing fast from the box-office. But the beginning of 2006 has been positive and hopeful for him.
He has been chosen as the best actor by the Kerala Film Audience Council, for his sensitive portrayal in Tanmatra, directed by Kazcha fame Blessy. The annual awards is being considered a prestigious one in Kerala.
Mohanlal played the role of a loving and a caring husband opposite Meera Vasudevan in Tanmatra. His performance came for acclaim from one and all in Malayalam filmdom. Though the movie released last year, could not put up a good show.
However the award has come as a great consolation for Mohanlal, who is eagerly awaiting his next release Mahasamudram.
Meanwhile, Sathyan Anthikad's Achuvinde Amma has been declared the best film of the year
