Good start in the fresh year

2007 has given a good start to Malluwood film industry with a super hit and a few sure hits. Of around 12 films released in the first quarter of the year, half dozen will turn out to be gains to the producers.

The year opening saw Baba Kalyani released last December gaining good initials, which sustained till the end of January. The film which has completed hundred days recently has collected more than twelve crores from the box office. The other release of the season Note Book almost managed somehow to reach the hundred mark.

The biggest hit of the first quarter 0f 2007 was, definitely Mayavi, the Mammootty starrer by Shafi which is still in major centres with seventy percent collections. The film which has completed 60 days is expected to reach hundred days with tons of collections.

Mammootty's another release was Kaiyoppu, an offbeat film which also managed to make some collections even though it was a shorter film than usual.

Speed, which was a belated release, was the surprise package of the year, definitely proving to be a winner. The film is on to its seventh week in almost all release centres. Dileep's other release of the year Inspector Garud also managed to keep producers happy.

Suresh Gopi had a sole release in the first three months in Detective in which he appeared in double roles. The film which was well appreciated by the viewers surprisingly didn't collect up to its growing mouth publicity. The film will also become a winner and is completing fifty days in a few release centers.

Kalabhavan Mani has two releases in March--Paayum Puli and Abraham and Lincoln. Both these films will satisfy his fans.

Jayasuriya who has a release in Changaathy Poocha also could gain a little momentum, with the film completing four weeks in major centres.
