After a long wait and many speculations, Premam director Alphonse Puthren has finally announced his next. The director has roped in Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara to play the lead roles in his upcoming movie titled 'Gold'. The highly-anticipated project will be produced jointly by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames. Reportedly, the upcoming movie will be similar to Alphonse's earlier Malayalam-Tamil bilingual Neram, which had Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim as part of the cast. Apart from Prithviraj and Nayanthara, Gold will also star Ajmal Amir in a pivotal role. If all goes well, the movie will go on floors by mid-September after Prithviraj is done shooting for Bro Daddy. 

After the remarkable success of his 2015 directorial Premam, Alphonse Puthren's fans were eagerly waiting for his next. Last year, he had announced a movie titled Paattu, that will bring together Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in the lead roles. Touted to be a musical film, the movie was supposed to go on floors earlier this year. Owing to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie's shoot has been indefinitely postponed. Reportedly, Paattu will start rolling only after the world comes back to normalcy.
