The teaser of the web series 'Godman' that released a few days back has already stirred a hornet's nest with its explicit sex scenes and the sensitive subject of religion and godmen. The cut showed Daniel Balaji playing a lower cast petty thief who is adopted by a godman played by Jayaprakash and teaches him how to become a true Brahmin. Actor S. Ve. Sekhar and many others slammed the series and police complaints were made. It is also said that BJP MP Subramanian Swamy spoke to ZEE 5 head Subhash Chandra and had the series withdrawn.

Now the Chennai Central Police have registered a case against the producer, director and actors of 'Godman' and notices have been sent to all of them. Sonia Agarwal also plays an important role. Daniel Balaji especially is facing severe backlash from social media users who have been venting their anger on him under the presumption that he is a Christian though he is a Hindu.
