Owing to some issues regarding its content, Go Goa Gone faced a halt in its screening in Goa. However things seem have to be cleared and the film reported to have got green signal.
According to our reports, the Government of Goa have given a clearance to the zombie comedy to release there. They watched the film and didnt find anything derogatory toward Goa. "We were glad to show Goa government the film because we know there is nothing derogatory towards Goa and that they would see the sense of humour with which we treated everything. We are happy they Okayed the film and Goans will get to watch the Go Goa Gone," said director Raj Nidimoru.
However, the territory of Nepal has asked for 20 cuts in the film, which the makers are considering and Kuwait has banned the film. Though this has not discouraged the makers of the film. "We understand that the concept of the film is new and a lot of people might take time to understand what we have done here. But we have always aimed at taking Indian cinema a notch higher and Go Goa Gone is exactly that attempt," said Dinesh Vijan, producer, Illuminati Films.
"Given the popularity of Bollywood films - not just in India but also internationally - we were concerned about the masses taking things at face value in the film Goa Goa Gone. This was not because of the presence of zombies in the film of course but factors such as portraying Goa as a destination for rave parties and drugs. This could damage the reputation of our state and show it as a drugs-tolerant destination - an image tag that we are so assiduously trying to shed.
I am glad that the concerns voiced by us were given due consideration by the producers thereby protecting the sensitivities of the people of the state. Goa strives to promote safe, responsible and value-based tourism," says Mr Nikhil Desai, Director, Tourism Department, Government of Goa. To clarify, the CM of Goa, Mr Manohar Parrikar did not personally go to watch the movie; it was a representative from the CMs office who saw the film.
Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan are producing this film under their banner Illuminati Films along with Sunil Lulla of Eros International. The zombie comedy, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, has released today. The film also stars actors Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Anand Tiwary and Puja Gupta in key roles.
