A young girl and her male friend were waiting for their train at the Taramani station which is in the Chennai Beach - Velacherry route on Saturday night.  Three men wearing uniform started questioning under the pretext that they were suspicious.  They threatened the man and asked him to leave and took the girl to another spot and started molesting her.   The girl however screamed for help and managed to push them aside and ran to safety into the train that came in.

The girl lodged a complaint at the Tiruvanmiyur station and cops found out that the three men were indeed railway staff and arrested and jailed them.  It has long been brought to notice of the railways department that during the night the stations, especially on this route, mostly have very less crowd and anti-social elements take advantage of that.  It remains to be seen if the authorities wake up on the issue and beef up security.
