A female python which was weighing 140 pounds and was 17 feet length, making it the largest snake ever to be caught in Big Cypress National preserve, was captured in Florida Everglades. The news came to light when Big Cypress posted a photo of 4 men holding the snake from head to tail.
It was also revealed by Big Cypress that the snake was euthanized, and all the 73 eggs that were laid by the deadly snake were destroyed as well, adding that the python was caught as a result of research and new methods of capturing pythons.
For tracking female pythons, Male pythons are sent attached with radio transmitters and they lead to the breeding area, where female pythons are found. As the species poses grave threat to wildlife, Big Cypress is taking necessary measures to control their population. Even in December an 18 foot long and 150 pound weighing python was found in Everglades, and it took 45 minutes to eliminate it.
